🌅 Florida Beach Sunsets & Long Exposures on Little Hickory Island (June-October)

Little Hickory Island, nestled between Naples and Fort Myers, offers one of Southwest Florida’s most peaceful and photogenic beach settings. With its unique shoreline, coastal textures, and open western skies, it’s the perfect place to master sunset photography and long exposure techniques.

Join us for a relaxed yet hands-on workshop where you’ll create stunning seascapes, from silky water and soft clouds to dramatic, vibrant skies.


📸 What You’ll Learn

  • Best practices for capturing colorful sunsets over the Gulf
  • How to use ND filters, polarizers, and long exposures to transform waves and clouds into art
  • Creative composition techniques using pilings, driftwood, and reflections
  • Tips for balancing light, dynamic range, and foreground elements
  • Camera settings and manual controls for changing light conditions
  • Optional help with editing and post-processing

Little Hickory Island, Bonita Springs, FL – beach access with natural elements like rocks, tidal pools, and shells

Offered year-round, with the best skies typically from May through October 
Custom dates and private sessions available

⏱ Workshop Timing

  • Workshops begin 90 minutes before sunset and run until after twilight
  • Add optional blue hour or star photography depending on weather and interest

  • Sunset Session (2.5–3 hours): $300 per person
  • 2 Sunset Sessions (back-to-back days): $550 per person
  • 3 Sunset Sessions: $800 per person

Includes guided instruction, scouting, and personal coaching. Travel, lodging, and meals not included.

  • DSLR or mirrorless camera with manual control
  • Tripod (required for long exposures)
  • ND filters (6-stop, 10-stop, or 15-stop recommended)
  • Wide-angle or standard zoom lens (16–35mm, 24–70mm, etc.)
  • Remote shutter or camera timer/intervalometer
  • Towel or cloth to dry off gear (beaches can be damp!)
  • Rocket blower, lens wipes, extra battery.

Can I still attend if I don’t have filters?
Yes! I’ll show you how to make the most of natural light and longer shutter speeds even without filters. You’ll still come away with beautiful photos.

Is this good for beginners?
Absolutely. I’ll meet you at your level, whether you're new to manual mode or looking to refine advanced techniques.

Will there be time for one-on-one help?
Yes! The small group format (or private sessions) ensures time for personalized instruction and coaching.

What if the sunset isn’t good?
Every evening offers something different — from soft pastels to dramatic skies. And with long exposures, even overcast days can create stunning effects. We’ll focus on making art in any conditions.

Can I book a private or small group session?
Definitely! Private and semi-private options are available. Contact me to customize your ideal experience.

  • A 50% deposit secures your spot. The remaining balance is due 30 days before your photo tour dates.
  • Cancellations made 30 days in advance are fully refundable.
  • Within 30 days, deposits are non-refundable but can be transferred to another date if available.
