I was hiking down one of my favorite local trails when all of a sudden the hawk I was photographing on a snag took off and came straight at me. She flew a foot or two above my head as a warning shot. It turns out she had a nest close by and did not want anything getting near her chicks. I continued on my way so she could get back to protecting the nest.
