While walking through the swamp, I heard a loud pecking sound. As I got closer, I was able to spot this male pileated woodpecker ripping off chunks of bark from an old cypress tree. From the looks of it, he had been working on this tree for some time. I fell in love with the ancient growth combined with the raw tree that had been recently exposed.
